Torrelles de Foix, in the heart of the Penedès, is a village surrounded by nature, where mountains, vineyards and landscapes set the perfect stage for the Cursafosca. A place full of history, legends and magic, where night becomes a unique experience under the light of the moon.

Mountains that inspire

The Cursafosca crosses the most emblematic spots of Torrelles de Foix, such as the Santuari de Foix, a site of great historical value, and other paths that wind through the woods and vineyards so characteristic of the Penedès.

Runners can take in magnificent panoramic views of the region, with the mountains of the Garraf range and the surroundings of the ring of the Prades Mountains tracing a spectacular silhouette, especially at night, when the moon lights up the paths and woods around the route.

A journey through the village and its nature

The race takes you through the loveliest corners of Torrelles de Foix, along rural tracks and small woods known for their peace and natural beauty. Runners not only enjoy a sporting challenge; they also get the chance to discover the history of the village and its surroundings.

The route takes in emblematic spots such as the Pont de la Rasa, which crosses the river Foix, and the path to the font dels Giberts, where participants can rest and recharge before continuing on towards the Santuari.

Since the very beginning we have worked to organise a race that respects its environment. We strive to reduce the environmental impact of every edition, adopting sustainable practices that help preserve the land around us.

Sustainable actions at every step

One of our main goals is to minimise the race's ecological footprint. From choosing eco-friendly materials for our runner packs to managing the aid stations responsibly, every detail of the Cursafosca is designed to keep its impact on the environment as low as possible.

We have also put measures in place to keep waste off the trails and to promote recycling and reuse. With this attitude we want to educate and inspire participants to care for their environment, both during the race and in everyday life.

Awareness and collaboration with local initiatives

We are also committed to local initiatives for the conservation of nature and the environment. Through collaborations with local organisations and projects, we aim to foster a culture of respect for and protection of our land.

Part of the funds raised during the race also goes to ecological restoration projects and to preserving the ecosystems around Torrelles de Foix.

The Cursafosca is not just a sporting competition: it is an immersive experience in which nature plays a leading role. We want every runner to live this race as a chance to appreciate the beauty of the landscape and the importance of preserving it.

Our commitment goes beyond the event itself: every edition is an invitation to respect nature and look after the world we live in, so that future generations can enjoy the same beauty we do.

The medal for the 10th edition is 3D printed in a plant-based plastic and keeps a secret: inside the sun of the logo there are rosemary seeds for you to take home and sow.

A material that comes from no animal

Every medal is 3D printed in PLA filament, a plastic made from plant starch with no ingredient of animal origin. The manufacturer, Winkle, certifies that neither the filament nor its packaging contains any of the substances of very high concern (SVHC) regulated by the European REACH regulation.

Rosemary belongs to this landscape: it grows on the scrubland you run through, it copes with drought, it fits in a pot and it flowers in winter, when almost nothing else does.

And food for the bees

That winter flowering is the part we like most. Rosemary opens from November to April, when almost nothing else in the woods is in flower and the bees have burnt through their stores: on sunny days they come out looking for food. It gives one of the best-known honeys here, rosemary honey. A single pot on a balcony is already a larder.
